The First Year

We’re an old married couple now!

Okay, not really, but we made it through our first year, and it’s an amazing feeling! Time truly flies when you’re having fun, and what better fun than newlywed-dom is there to be had?

Our first year was amazing!

Of course, it started with Our Wedding on September 14, 2008, followed by our PERFECT honeymoon in Cancun/Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Since then, our married days in San Francisco have mostly been spent enjoying our weekend Date Days, setting up our apartment, learning (and re-learning) how to control our newlywed budget, and just generally dorking out and basking in our newlywedom!

We’d both been told the first year would be the hardest, and while ours came and went without any major issues, it didn’t come without its challenges. I would say the two toughest things for us were practicing effective communication and learning how to control our finances. We’ve learned that marriage is much like a mirror that forces you to face it and confront what you find there. What a blessing that’s been, because through it we’ve both grown in so many ways—together and individually.

Now that we’ve begun Chapter Two, we’re looking forward to more years, more growth, more fun, and, eventually, more Sterling-Smiths!

:)

Anyway, here’s a look back at Chapter One!
